Wild Abundance

Reclaiming forgotten foraging wisdom.

A space to nurture a regular foraging practice, deepening connection with plants, nature and ancient knowledge to bring more wild nourishment into your everyday life. It runs across 3 three month seasonal containers of Spring, Summer & Autumn.

You can join one or all three.

Tending the Wild inside

Wild Abundance

Tending the Wild inside

Wild Abundance encourages you to get outside...

...and start discovering all the wild edible and medicinal magic that is literally at your feet.

We gather twice a month inside each season. In advance of each gathering you will receive all the information to be able to find, safely identify, gather and prepare up to 3 wild edibles and be invited to get out into nature and start exploring and foraging.

We then come together to share our experiences, ask questions and share ideas and knowledge to build and deepen our practice.

Alongside this, we will also be reading and discussing one book per season to further nurture and inspire this wild wisdom and way of being:

  • Spring - ‘The Serviceberry: An Economy of Gifts and Abundance’ by Robin Wall Kimmerer
  • Summer – ‘The Hunter Gatherer Way’ by Ffyona Campbell (a teacher of mine)
  • Autumn – ‘The Wilderness Cure: Ancient Wisdom in a Modern World’ by Mo Wilde

Embarking on a wild food and foraging journey is hugely exciting and one many of us are keen to begin.

Even with all the books and foraging social media accounts available to us, fear of picking the wrong thing or lack of confidence can stop us getting started.

Wild Abundance aims to give you the knowledge, motivation and support to get going within a vibrant ongoing community space. It bridges the gap between doing it on your own (which is great) and going out on regular in-person workshops (even better) but is not accessible to everyone whether due to finances, time, caring responsibilities or physical mobility and other health conditions.
Opportunity to discover and connect with up to 6 wild species a month.

These will range from wild greens, flowers, seeds, nuts, berries, fruit, fungi and even some key poisonous ones because we need to know those too.

There is no requirement to ‘do’ all of them. You can choose to develop a relationship with as many as you like. It’s your journey and completely up to you.
Each species is chosen for ease of identification with beginners also in mind, avoiding those that have a high likelihood of being confused with highly toxic species.

This is not a ‘hierarchical I teach at you and you listen for 1.5 hours’ offering. The gatherings are there to go deeper, ask questions, share and learn from each other’s knowledge and experience in reciprocal flow and connectivity.

There will also be a dedicated online community space to post questions, photos, recipes etc. and I will share all of my favourite resources with you.
Spring season is March, April and May.
Summer is June, July and August.
Autumn is September, October and November.

When you join you are committing to the whole season (three months).

As it is a new offering, Spring will remain open to join anytime.

At the beginning of each season we will have an opening gathering before we get going.

If you're intrigued about wild food and foraging, want to build your knowledge, confidence and consistent practice, deepen connection with the land and learn to be in right relationship, infuse older ways of being into your life and be in enriching relation with others on this journey come and join.

(Wild Abundance is focused on foraging in the UK. There is probably a cross over of species if you are outside the UK but I do not know to what extent).

Supporter Rate

Everything as before.
A voluntary option to select if you are a person who enjoys financial abundance and would like to support me to offer this at an accessible rate and as a gift to others.

Gift

Access to everything without monetary exchange.

This is available if you have no to very limited disposable income and your economic circumstances means you often cannot afford to meet your basic needs. You might be living paycheck to paycheck or in significant debt.

I offer this from a context of having personal experience of this myself and as a way of rejecting capitalist norms which teach us to exploit and extract from each other and exclude certain people from accessing these spaces.

This is also offered in the spirit of a gift just as the earth has so generously gifted her berries and fruits and sustenance.

Fears of violation of trust of course means I have some nervous trepidation about offering this, however we can't build new ways of being if we aren't willing to try.

I am also open to accepting other forms of exchange if the concept of gift economy is not right for you.
Psst, if you’re already part of a subscription on The Portal Collective please raise a support ticket here, and we’ll sort you out a subscription to this asap. Thanks for your understanding!

Resources

Rebecca runs foraging workshops on the north coast of Cornwall and is a qualified Hill and Moorland walking leader leading walks across Bodmin Moor and Dartmoor. She has also worked as a nurse in the NHS for a decade.

Dreaming of wild and ancient, liberated futures, she hopes that in helping others to reclaim the plant and nature wisdom of our ancestors and through guided wild walking journeys, we can come back to the land, to ourselves and to our wild inside.

It is from here that perhaps we can feel resourced and empowered to rise up for ourselves, the planet and the collective in this time of polycrisis.

She is also very excitingly taking part in the Wildbiome project for a month this year, a scientific study researching the effects of a 100% foraged wild food diet on the body.
